There is something really satisfying about achieving an objective, so today I have a fixed grin on my face!( Especially when it is a team objective). I hope you will join me in congratulating Morgan and the restaurant team, as well as Marc and the kitchen team, for their efforts have been recognised!
In the last six months they have taken La Garrigue from the 148th spot to the 18th spot on the Trip Advisor website for the best restaurants in Edinburgh. Quite an achievement in such a small period of time; the target was to reach the top 20 by the end of the summer....well done Guys, top 10 for the end of the year? I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who actually wrote reviews after visiting the restaurant, and to apologise for not responding to all of the reviews individually, thank you for your support and endorsement. You may also like to know that we are also "gluten free".
I just cannot believe the Festival is already upon us; the last 7 months have flown by and it seems the months are getting shorter...a sign of age I suppose! As per previous years there is that mixed feeling of excitement and apprehension; do we have the right amount of staff, are we managing our bookings accordingly, do we have enough equipment, shall we do more advertisements, are our menus priced correctly? We will soon found out! We have added a couple of items to our menus in order to cater for the needs of people in a hurry between 2 shows, mainly a cheese or charcuterie board with a glass of wine for 2 people priced at £35.00 and we will of course try to accommodate people through the day by having more flexible opening times. So I think we are ready. Mind you this year we had the benefit of having the impact of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and July has been a busier month than previous years, giving us a kind of warm up before the race!!
I just hope to be able to have the time to do a bit of foraging as the weather has been ideal for the wild mushrooms season and there is no better way to switch off than a couple of hours in a woodland. I already have a couple of dishes on the menu with cepes and chanterelles and what is better than a chanterelles omelette with a glass of wine for lunch? You should try it sometime...at La Garrigue of course! I also would like to see a couple of shows myself and to enjoy the buzz during this festival month maybe during an afternoon break.
Of course September will be there before we know it, and with that our yearly trip to the South of France for “les Vendanges”! The Tour is a sell out once again, all the flight tickets, bus locations, visits, wine tastings and restaurants have been booked now we only have to hope for some good weather.
Finally, if you just happen to be thinking of buying an apartment in Sunny Marseille...give me a call.
Now what about this Festival? Bring it on!!
A bientot,
J-Michel
