Jean Michel's Diary

Hi, it's me again, ca va?

Sacre-bleu, I did not realised we are only 4 weeks away from Christmas.........4 weeks only and I haven't even started thinking about my Christmas list. It's the same every year, I always pretend to be really busy and have no time for myself, so Karen eventually does it all for me .....I hope it is going to work this year again! To be honest with you, I am sure she secretly enjoy it; she goes with Joey, my favourite mother in law, and over the years they have became expert in spending Jim's money, (My favourite father in law), topped up with whatever is left on my credit card....not a lot !!!

Talking about my Christmas list, I have an issue with you! Did you read my last journal ? Did you? So where was my birthday card? I really want things to be clear between us....no birthday cards.......no Christmas. Fair enough?!

I hope you have received our December menu,.... we still have a few spaces left so pop in to say hello, nothing is better than a bite at la Garrigue to beat the Winter blues. Hubert's food is getting better and better every day, and there is nothing warmer than Julie's smile! (fishing for granny's points!)

Going back to my last journal, I did watch the England/South Africa game, that was fine, it just went pear shape few days later...never mind I have it from good sources that France were actually practicing for New Zealand in four years time! Remember where you heard it first!!

I just want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Samuel Guilbert, from the Domaine Mas De Daumas Gassac, who came up specially from sunny Languedoc, to host what was a very enjoyable evening at la Garrigue. If you were there you will know what I mean, the wines were superb and Hubert really excelled himself, and Julie and her team worked very hard to ensure the evening went smoothly. It does take quite a lot of work to put those events together, and it is so rewarding when things go well on the night. Thanks to all the people involved, and thank you for all the friends of la Garrigue who came and supported us. Thank you also to Wine Importers who shipped all the wines for us; we now have a whole section totally dedicated to the wines from Daumas Gassac, including some rare vintages that, I am told are only available at la Garrigue! So if you want to treat yourself to something a bit special, or have a special occasion to celebrate, you know where to come!

If you haven’t managed yet to attend one of our special evenings, the good news is that my very good friend Catherine Roque form the Domaine de Clovallon has accepted to host the next food and wine dinner the 5th or 6th of February 2008; so put a cross in your diary, I will confirm the date at a later time.

Well it is getting late and I should be going home really, it's been an other long day....for a man of my age, ...don't laugh, I spend all day working with some under thirty something, and it is hard to keep up....sometimes. My new year resolution for 2007 was to get fitter.....I just started swimming again,....a few weeks ago... you may have noticed how much weight I lost recently.....! Next I am going to cut down in my cheese daily allowance...maybe! But then again, with Christmas round the corner, I may wait a few months.

Just in case I don't see you before, have a Great Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

Warmest wishes to your friends and family and thank you for your continued support.

Festive regards,

Jean-Michel and the team
