Dear Friends of La Garrigue
==========
Bonjour mes Amis,
Ah, that is much better! I’ve just treated myself to a new electric heater and my fingers and my brain are beginning to defrost, this office is freezing and the chefs next door are complaining it is too hot, it’s an unjust world!!
Well, we had an exciting January, and a fairly busy one as well. It was worth staying open through Hogmanay and the first week of January as there were lots of tourist in town looking for places to eat. The main reason for staying open was due to the planned refurbishment. We now have a new floor upstairs, a new refrigeration unit for the wines , the dishwashing room has been redone with new walls, new dishwashers, flooring and storage. The main work was the building of a new walk-in fridge in the cellar and the reorganisation of the cellar itself with new walls, wine racks, floors. After 14 years in the place this was needed indeed.
While the plumbers, electricians, decorators were busy doing the place up I spent most of my time planning the events for the next few months , here is a resume of what we have arranged for you for the next 3 months;
First of course there is **Valentine’s Day**, I hope you have booked your table by now! Then the start of the **Rugby Six Nations** with a series of themed lunches. The first one on the 15th of February when Scotland are playing Wales and on the 28th of February when we will have an Italian themed lunch for the Scotland/Italy game. Those days are usually very busy so please book your table as soon as you can, I may also have a couple of spare tickets for the games...just in case!
On the 18th of March **La Garrigue goes to Spain** with a special celebration of Spanish food and wine , they have been lacking in the area since the departure of Iggs ; then on the 8th of April and by public demand we will host a **Vegetarian Day**, by far the most popular of our events and always a sell out. More details are on our website.
April will see the first of our **Gastronomique Tours to the Languedoc**; a week spent visiting prized vineyards, tasting the best wines of Languedoc, as well as dining in the best restaurants in the area. Add up a wee bit of tourism and here you are! Lets face it after a few months of Scottish winter, a week in the South of France may not be a bad Idea. Call me at the restaurant if you are interested and I will give you more information...there's also a video on our website.
Before closing this journal I would like to say a big thank you to Richard Bath the food critic who last week wrote his last restaurant review on Scotland on Sunday featuring....La Garrigue. Over the years Richard has been a great supporter of La Garrigue, and a highly respected and read food critic, a benchmark for upcoming journalists, and a great fan of the Scotland restaurant industry. Read his final review here.
Time for me to go now, I hope you will be tempted to join us for one or two of our special events and I am looking forward to seeing you again soon.
A bientot,
J-M
