Dear Friends of La Garrigue
==========
Mes Amis Bonjour!
Festival number fifteen for La Garrigue done and dusted !
I don’t know how we survived it. Our head chef moved on to greener pastures just before the festival, leaving us in a bit of a pickle, but we made it. It was tough mind you and the rest of the kitchen team did a fantastic job , working far too many hours and putting up with a worried and grumpy old boss.
Thank you Mat, Laurine and Anthony, in my book, the three real stars of the festival.
Mind you if the kitchen team did well, Morgan and his team upstairs did great job too, serving up to 130 covers a day...The feed back was also very positive so all together a very successful August. Thank you!
We now have a new brigade in the kitchen and it is time to focus on the future and to get our Autumn menu on the go as well as finalising our Festive office parties for December. Reservations and enquiries are coming in at speed, so no time to rest really.
I still managed to keep a few days for my foraging escapades and while the season was a bit late this year it is a very rich one and chanterelles, ceps and pieds de moutons are plentiful and in our menus for the next few weeks.
Some morale boosting news recently was the inclusion of La Garrigue in the Good Food Guide 2016. It is now the 11th year in this prestigious publication; a sign that we must be doing something right!
Of course September is the time for the “vendanges” and the last of our wine tours in Languedoc for this year. The programme looks really exciting again and I am looking forward to this trip back home. New restaurants, new vineyards, meeting up with some old friends and this time around a day cruise with wine tasting on the Canal Du Midi.....weather permitting!
I hope you will join me sometime during one of my Languedoc Wine tours, remember me when planning your holidays for 2016. Trips will be in April, June and September next year.
Saturday is the last Rugby Game before the start of the World Cup. I am a bit worried about the French team facing Scotland this year as Mr Cotter seems to have worked his magic touch. Scotland made Italy look very average last week and delivered a strong performance. I hope France can raise their game as they did against England.....while at the same time hoping for Scotland to deliver the goods on the international stage...a Scotland–France final.....hmm!!
Christmas is coming and you may be planning for your festive office meal out. Our special menu for parties of ten or more has just been finalised. But please don’t wait until then before popping in, La Garrigue is all you need to beat the winter blues.
A bientot,
J-Michel
