Mes chers Amis bonjour!
Well it looks like we are ready for the last service of 2015; the restaurant is all laid out to accommodate 85 people tonight, the chefs are still busy finishing off the “mise en place” , Morgan is storing up the last bottles of bubbly and I am alone in the office having some peace and quiet before the storm....
Overall, La Garrigue had a good year and as always, December was the cherry on the cake with a very good December, a great Christmas day, and providing the wind stops… Hogmanay will close the year with a bang!
This is the first time in years that I achieved my main objective; securing the future of La Garrigue! While I am not yet ready to retire I was aware that time was no longer on my side and La Garrigue after J-Michel? I could not envisage that after all these years there was no future for the business, so when Morgan and his wife became directors of the company, in November I knew the future of my ”Baby” was secured. This gave me a second wind and I can now focus on other things; “Plus ca change ,plus c’est la meme chose”
Planning 2016 was a key objective and I have just finalised the programme of events for the next 3 Months starting with an Auld Alliance Burns supper on the 25th of January then the 6th of February a special rugby lunch for Scotland /England ; the inevitable Valentines dinner on the 14th of February. On the 13th of March a special rugby week-end with Scotland /France and to close the first quarter a food and wine evening on the 23rd ; a head to head or glass to glass encounter between the wines from the southern Hemisphere and the wine from Languedoc...of course! The details of these events will be published soon on our website .
Starting in April, the first of the Languedoc wine tours will be followed by a series of 6 dates the following months. For more information call me on 0771761170 or visit my new website at languedocwinetours.co.uk , places are selling fast so if you fancy a week of good wine and food in the south of France get in touch!
As you can see retirement is not for next year! Plenty to do still and really looking forward to it.
In the meantime there is the last dinner of 2015 to take care off , I can hear the first of the party goers arriving..
So it is time to wish you , your friends and Family the best new year ever!
Have a wonderful 2016 ! Bonne et heureuse Annee from all of us at La Garrigue!
J-Michel and the team.
Ps: I forgot to mention that the restaurant will be close from the 1st of January and will re-open for dinner on the 6th..., Enfin les Vacances!!
