Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, that Santa was good to you, that the turkey was well done and not too dry, and that you had good news from friends and family....
It was very strange for me to have a day off in the middle of the week for Boxing Day, but after a very busy December I was ready for a wee break to recharge the batteries before the final rush of Hogmanay.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who choose La Garrigue as the venue for their Christmas office party and also to those who joined us on Christmas Day. It was great to see the restaurant so busy, and with so many familiar faces. I’m pleased that some people have already booked for next year; that is what I call forward planning!
Maybe I should not boast about it too much, but considering the number of covers we served during the whole Christmas period we only had two complaints. Two too many of course, one about a turkey pie of poor quality and the other about the speed of the service. Fortunately the person who is never content about the quality of the food or service and who always moans about one thing or another is ....you guessed it, ME!!! At least I do not write to Trip Advisor about it!
That's another thing I do not understand; the vast majority of the feedback we receive from our customers is very positive. Top Table put La Garrigue in the top 100 in the UK, the Scotsman website includes us in the top ten establishments for Christmas lunches, both the AA and the Good Food Guide give us good rating, The List also rates La Garrigue with a “Hit”...but on Trip Advisor we can’t even make it in the top 100 in Edinburgh!! That is of course great news for Edinburgh but surely La Garrigue should be doing better?
I have a favour to ask you, if you dined with us the last couple of months and enjoyed your time with us, mention it on Trip Advisor just to help us to make it to the top 50, where I think we should be.
On another subject, I am pleased to announce that I have put the last touches to the new wine list and as from tonight you will have an additional 8 new bins to choose from . We have added some truly stunning, yet affordable wines discovered during our summer trip in Languedoc. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did.
I also want to let you know that we will be closed for the first and the second of January. We need to freshen up the place, do the end of year stock take, remove the Christmas decorations and get ready for 2014.
Hogmanay is now fully booked and I do hope the weather will not spoil the evening as we are all looking forward to a great night, to close the year on a high.
Already the bookings are coming in for 2014 and our “Alternative Burns Supper” is creating a lot of interest so I hope you will be able to join us to celebrate “the Bard “ in a Languedoc way..
Well it is time for me to leave you in peace, take care of yourself and your loved ones and have a great New Year!
See you all again in 2014....
God Bless,
J-Michel
