I was just going for a walk up the Royal Mile but it started to rain...again. So here I am back at the office and taking this opportunity to let you know what’s happening at La Garrigue.
Well, the tourists have arrived and it is once again good to have so many nationalities in the restaurant. Of course I always assume that they are coming to sample La Garrigue’s cooking and service, but so far it is the view they are amazed with and, fair enough, we do have a lovely view onto Calton Hill. Sometimes we do take things for granted and it is good to be reminded how lucky we are to be in such a nice location.
Mind you we still receive some pretty good feedback about the food, and the duck tartare, asparagus salad, fresh cherry cheese cake and the strawberries and basil ice cream tart that have taken top spot lately!
I am loving working with these seasonal products and I hope the apricots, charentais melon, sun-ripe tomatoes and peaches are on their way....Yes I know Mr...X, these are not local products and come all the way from Europe, but at least at La Garrigue our wines do not travel round the world before taking place in our wine list!!!
Talking about wine, we still have some spaces left for our Bordeaux evening on the 26th of June. The menu looks good but the wines are very special. The main red, a 1996 Chateau Lafon-Rochet is exceptional!!! So pick up the phone call a few friends and join us!
The details of our gastronomique- wine tasting trip to the Languedoc have been finalised and within the next couple of weeks I will have to reserve the tickets for Beziers. It is important you call me with your passport details and of course a small deposit. WARNING - this is not a trip for weight-watchers or AA members. My good friend Bernard has booked the best restaurants in the area and some of the trips will take us to some of the Languedoc countryside that the locals like to keep for themselves...so if you are free between the 15th and the 22nd of September, ...well why not?? Give me a call.
In the meantime I hope to see you again soon.
A bientot,
J-Michel
