Dear Friend of La Garrigue
Where does the time go? I cannot believe we are already at the end of March. Karen and Weiwei have decorated the restaurant windows with Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies. I collected a few daffodils and hyacinths in the garden and have been foraging for wild garlic …Spring has arrived!
Of course March has been really busy with events starting with a very busy Rugby international. Who saw the law of averages being respected with a well deserved Scottish victory against a fairly bland French team? It must be said, I was quite happy with the result having placed a few pennies on a home win…
The highlight of the month was the Southern Hemisphere versus Languedoc wine evening. It was well attended and the feed back very positive. I am happy to report a draw! The selected wines from South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Argentina equally as good as the Languedoc selection. Everybody left …happy.
It is a theme I may use again in the future with maybe an ITALY or SPAIN versus LANGUEDOC wine dinner….I am already looking forward to it. A big thank you to Matt and the chefs in the kitchen who produced a very high standard of food as well.
In April we will host our next Vegetarian Evening on the 13th. As always this is going to be a busy evening with many bookings already. It always reminds me of the days of L’Artichaut in Eyre Place and the fun we had with the challenge of vegetarian and vegan food. The menu is also as interesting and as challenging as ever. See our website.
I will need a rest after this so I will be away to the South of France for the first Languedoc wine Tour of the year. The programme is now finalised and I have a few surprises this time around with some visits to new restaurants and recommended vineyards. If you fancy a last minute week
away and are fed up with the rain then give me a call and I may squeeze you in…..or join me for the next trips in May or June. Check www.languedocwinetours.co.uk for details.
I am now working on the menu for the Asparagus Festival on May the 31st, so any suggestions, recipes, ideas will be welcomed with a chance to win a dinner at La Garrigue with the winning recipe included in the menu….come on lets start cooking!!
It was really nice to welcome an old friend back to our menu with the introduction of a fixed priced 3 course option including La Garrigue's old favourite dishes; the twice baked roquefort soufflé, the duck and porc cassoulet, and the lavender creme brûlée. The Languedoc in the plate!
Time to get ready for tonights service but not before congratulating Mlle Sheena Russell as the winner of this months prize draw, a lunch for 2 with a bottle of house wine; Well done Sheena and thank you for choosing La Garrigue.
Have a great Easter Holiday and …A bientot?
A bientôt,
J-Michel
