Dear Friends of La Garrigue
Only a few days ago, I was enjoying the sunshine in the south of France picking the first cherries of the season and making the most of my mum new plancha while tasting some new interesting wines with friends , in particular a new cuvée called Colinettè , a Faugeres from Catherine Roques from the Mas D’Alezon ….superb! This lead me to remind you that you can now order your favourites Languedoc wines directly online from www.languedocwinetours.co.ukand through my partnership with terroir Languedoc have the wine delivered directly to your home.
Back home now and wondering if this year again we are going to have summer and if I will be able to practice my plancha cooking skills; who knows?
I am really happy with the feedback received from the new dishes on our spring menu, and the way Mateusz our head chef and his team are putting their stamps on la Garrigue while working within the given boundaries of “La cuisine du Midi”. The rabbit and the lamb are particularly well received as well as the Bourride of monk fish, and being a big fan of vegetarian cooking I am really fond of the confit fennel. All these lead La Garrigue to be placed in the top 10 restaurant in town with Open Table, our booking agent. Well done lads! Of course I would like to be better placed on TripAdvisor as I feel we should be in the first twenty at least. In order to achieve this I really need your support and endorsement if you, like me, think we deserve a better position. Write a review of your experience in La Garrigue-please click here.
While we are still looking for a couple of chefs to join our team I am delighted that one of our ex-employee is back with us; welcome home Gabriel, nice to have you back!
Our next event, the Asparagus festivalis doing well and we only have a couple of tables left. Our supplier, Ken, just confirmed the green, white, water and wild asparagus have arrived from France and that he may also have some Scottish one for the dinner on the 31st of May. I am getting excited already as those evenings always add a special buzz in the kitchen and the dining room, as well as fostering creativity for future dishes to be included in our seasonal menus.
Only a couple of weeks before my next trip to France. Back to Languedoc for the June’s Wine Tour. Another week of wine tasting, gastronomy and tourism in one of France most varied region and the place where I grew up all those years ago. I have a few new vineyards added to the list with a special trip to one of France best kept secret, and a must see spot on the Larzac plateau.
I was there last week and was amazed by this beauty spot. I must have been 10 or so the last time my parents took me there and did not then realised and appreciated its uniqueness and beauty. I am really looking forward to take my group there. The fact that there is now a very nice restaurant only adds to the attraction of course! There is still time for you to join us as we are not leaving until the 12th of June but hurry up! If you cannot make it I will tell you all about it on my next news letter but I hope to see you at la Garrigue before long.
A bientôt,
J-Michel
