October 2012
Mes Amis, bonjour,Goodness me, October already! This may explain the weather I suppose.
September finished on a good note; I took a day off yesterday, and managed to catch up with the family, and the kids especially. I felt a bit envious when Pascal and Alana showed us the picture of their holidays in the States. Envious, but also happy for them of course. Holidays....I cannot remember the last time we went away for a decent break; well maybe next year.
Business was not that great in September, but as well as our regulars, we had some really nice new customers trying us for the first time, and the feedback on the service and food was good; a few of them came back already. This is always a good sign.
Our Summer season staff have now moved on and Jeromine, William and Yolanda joined us; we had our first really busy week-end at the end of September and the service went well, so I am looking forward to working with them in the months to come. I am still looking for a couple of chefs and have a few interviews lined up so I hope to fill the positions soon.
Simon, one of our chefs, will be moving to 2-1-2-1-2 at the end of the month, He will do well there, and will learn some new skills; it is always nice to see the young people doing well and moving in the right direction career wise.
Bookings for December are good and I have had some positive comments about the price and content. I am just a bit concerned about our Dinner event on the 10th of October with Chateau Cabezac; we had a couple of cancellations and we need a few more people, to make it a special evening...the menu is great and the wines real nectars.
There are still 10 days to go as I write this journal so I hope we will achieve our target; around 25/30 people will make it a memorable event.
Finally, my ”Favourite Person of the Week Award” goes to Hannah Milton from the Evening News for the kind review she wrote in the 29th September edition of the paper. It cheered up the whole of the team. Thanks Hannah, you can come back anytime!!!
Time for me to go; I must reply to a few e-mails and send a few more menus to potential diners this afternoon, then I have to place the wine order and check the new vintages are correct on the wine list...
I will be in touch again soon,
Warm regards, from La Garrigue,
